I got into meditation after going through a serious mental health struggle during the COVID pandemic.
This was the result of not being properly diagnosed for with a high anxiety disorder in my teens which led to 30 years of addictive behavior to try and bring that anxiety level under control. None of it worked. I just found myself being addicted to one substance or another during that 30 year timeframe.
I was lost and didn't know how to pull myself out of the depressing rut I was in. Just like everyone else, I wanted to figure out what made me happy and then make sure I spent every single minute of my life trying to keep that mindset. I started reading a lot of books on Buddhism, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, Eckhart Tolle and all of them had a common theme: meditation. Shortly thereafter I learned how to meditate and almost immediately saw some amazing results. Since it worked for me, I thought it might work for others as well so I decided to get my meditation teaching certification starting in 2022. Meditation has changed my life in so many ways - all of them positive. A calmer, happier existence is attainable and well within reach - one breath at a time.
